Touch Time: Digital Watch with Touch Screen

Today’s mobile phones and other electronic devices don’t look and function like they did in the 1980’s, but that can’t be said for digital watches. Wouldn't it be nice to change the appearance of your watch's time display and set an alarm with a swipe of a finger? Or access watch functions that provide detailed information that looks more like they belongs on a Smartphone rather than a traditional digital watch? We have set out to create what you should expect from a digital watch in the 21st century.

NEXT GENERATION DIGITAL WATCH

Touch Time is a stylish and revolutionary spin on the typical digital watch, which has been virtually unchanged the past 20 years. It utilizes a touch interface with the same capacitive touch screen technology that can be found in Smartphones today. Touch Time is extremely easy to use, allowing you to change the time display or select apps with a swipe of a finger, rather than requiring a myriad of button pushes. Touch Time's display is always on, and therefore eliminates the need to press a button to see what time it is.

CUSTOMIZE ON THE FLY

One of the most notable features of Touch Time is the ability to select from seven different built-in time displays with a simple swipe of your finger. The display itself can also be inverted, giving you up to 14 different watch dial appearances ranging from oversized digital to analog time dials. Touch Time is also one of the first watches ever that like your Smartphone allows you to customize the language displayed and supports English, French, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, and German.

BUILT IN APPLICATIONS
Fully utilizing the "always on" high resolution display, Touch Time features conventional watch functions designed like they belong on a Smartphone. Launch any app with a simple touch of the corresponding icon displayed in the menu screens. These watch apps include:
  • Alarm with the ability to set up to 6 different alarms
  • Stopwatch with ability to display detailed lap data (up to 99 laps)
  • Reminder to keep track of future daily events and tasks
  • World time allows display of up to 6 different time zones
  • Calendar displays past, current, and future monthly views
  • Calculator with oversized numerical and mathematical symbol buttons
  • Lunar displays moon phase, days to full moon, and horoscope

NO NEED FOR SYNCING OR CHARGING
Smartwatches are all the talk today, but Touch Time isn't a Smartwatch, it’s a smart-er watch. It offers the functionality wanted in a digital watch, without adding the complication to your life of having to sync it or charge it. Touch Time is powered by a user replaceable coin cell battery, and has 1+ year battery life!
DESIGNED FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN
Touch Time features a modern, button-less case design, and is sized perfectly for both men and women. The low profile stainless steel case and soft silicone strap delivers the performance and comfort that is expected of a watch to be worn every day.

Windows lovers rejoice! Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 8, their latest operating system, will be available on October 26, 2012. Windows 8 will be available for all, including existing Windows users looking to upgrade and new PC buyers.
Microsoft is aiming to dominate in the PC, mobile and Tablet markets with the release of Windows 8 centered devices. In fact, Microsoft is actually going to launch its own brand of tablets named Surface, right alongside their new Windows Phone 8 mobile devices.Select buyers of the Windows 7 OS (through January 20, 2013) will be able to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro at an extensive discount.
Windows 8 significantly expands on the Windows operating system in ways you’d never guess.
Windows 8 For PCs & Tablets
Windows 8 will be the first complete version of the Windows OS that is also compatible with tablets and touchscreen devices.
As Microsoft states in the Windows 8 Developer Preview guide, Windows 8 includes “support for ARM-based chipsets, touch, and sensors make Windows 8 work beautifully on your choice of a full spectrum of devices, such as 10-inch slates with all-day battery life, ultra lightweight laptops, and powerful all-in-ones with 27-inch high-definition screens.”
Windows To Go
Windows To Go is a handy feature, new to the Windows OS, that adds Live USB operation. Essentially, Windows will run from a connected USB drive, with all user programs, settings and files intact. This feature will enable enterprise users the freedom to keep their entire system with them no matter where they go.
If the USB drive is removed while Windows is still active, the operating system will freeze, and the user has up to 60 seconds to plug the drive back in.

“Windows To Go is a new feature in Windows 8 that enables enterprise administrators to create USB drives containing complete, managed Windows images that users can use to boot and run Windows on any Windows 7 or Windows 8 capable computer. Windows To Go makes it possible for employees to use a managed device whether they work from home, a client office or in a free seating environment. This session will discuss Windows To Go, its hardware requirements and building compatible and complementary software.”
Windows App Store
Microsoft has created the Windows App Store that will allow developers to publish apps for use in the Windows 8 environment. All applications from the Windows App Store will take advantage of the Metro user interface. The Windows App store will also allow Windows users to browse standard programs and applications for use within Windows.

Metro – The Windows 8 User Interface

The Metro interface is designed to provide seamless navigation whether you are browsing with a mouse and keyboard, or gestures via a touchscreen. In addition, Microsoft has also implemented a slew of new features like a brand new logon screen, a Windows 8 Start Screen, a personalized Control Panel and stylish media playback support.
The Windows 8 Logon screen allows users to login by simply tapping certain areas of the screen in relation to an image, instead of the normal password interface.

What You Need To Know With iPhone 5

Well, the iPhone 5 was not released in October, like many fans had hoped. Instead the iPhone 4S was released. Also released have been a plethora of iPhone 5 news and rumors, and a mild amount of actual iPhone 5 news.
Apple has a history of secrecy when it comes to, everything. Generally they do not release any specifics of devices until the device itself is publicly revealed. However, this does not keep sources from speculating and the internet becoming flooded with what people think they saw in regards to the latest product or what they predict in the future for Apple.
Rumors are generally based on truth and history to some extent. There are some speculations that can be expected to be true based on the history of Apple.
Apple has always released their newest iPhone in June. This was changed with their previous release, the iPhone 4S, which was made available in October. Apple generally uses the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), often held in June (though the dates vary), to announce its latest products. Reports say this year the conference will be held June 10-15. Many sources have released iPhone 5 rumors claiming that it will be released around the date of the conference.
Apple is also planning to announce the iPad 3 on March 7th. Many reports state to expect the release of the iPhone 5 a few months after the release of the iPad 3.
This is of importance because the iPad and the iPhone generally share similar technology. The iPad 3 is expected to have the newest Apple chip, the A6, and also run on the 4G LTE network.
The A6 is a quad-core chip. The ability of having a quad-core chip will dramatically increase the speeds over that of the previous A5 chip. The processor speed of the iPhone 5 is expected to be between 1.2 and 1.5 GHz and have 1GB of RAM.
Reports have stated that Intel is trying to help pitch its chip to be produced in the newest iPhones. However, Apple has recently spent a large amount of money to produce its own chips in conjunction with Samsung, and sources say they will not move away from this current practice. More iPhone 5 news will be available regarding what network provider they will use in the near future. It will be either the 4g network, or the superior 4g LTE network. It should be expected that the LTE network will be the chosen one, as it is supposedly being built in to the iPad 3.
Apple is always trying to maintain its status as a leader in the smartphone market, which would make us believe that they would not settle for the standard 4G. The iPhone 5 is also expected to contain TDSCDMA network capability, which is the 3G standard in China. The iPhone 4S is a world phone, which allows it to be used on both GSM and CDMA networks. It would be safe to assume that the iPhone 5 will also follow in these footsteps.
The camera on the iPhone 5 will be amazing, if every rumor is true. Even if only a few are true, it will still be a great camera. According to a few sources, Apple has recently filed for patents for a camera with 3D technology.
The camera on the iPhone 4S is 8 megapixels. So it is safe to expect a camera of at least that capacity on the iPhone 5. Some talk has been floating around of a camera up to 13MP; however a camera of this size seems a little unreasonable. I think either way, it’s safe to expect that Apple will not slack in the camera category, no matter what the final product is. In the iPhone 4S, Apple produced many upgrades to create amazing camera quality, and if the new camera is just as good, it will be nice, and if it’s better, well then that will be stunning.
Some recent pictures of what could possibly be the newest version of the iPhone have been showing all over the internet. These pictures supposedly came from a reliable employee in China at the Foxconn plant, which helps in the production of iPhones. This source also stated that there are many samples out floating around in the hands of Apple employees, so expect to see more rumors about the design soon.

Bend to Zoom

Some time ago we talked about the introduction of a new technology by 3M that allowed flexible touchscreens and we stated that it was just a matter of time before the technology would be put to use. Looks like we’re there! Last week a few manufacturers presented prototypes of devices with this technology put to use. Nokia introduced the Nokia Kinetic Device (video below) that uses bending of the device as a form of input to, for example, ‘pinch to zoom’ (or in this case ‘bend to zoom’).

And some days later Samsung’s Vice President reportedly stated that their company will come out with a smartphone and/or table with flexible touchscreen somewhere in 2012 (again: video below of an earlier prototype).

Things are moving quickly! And the time between renders of awesome concepts to actual products in the stores seems to get shorter every year!

Ivee Voice Activated Alarm Clock

I would presume that most of us rely on our smartphones as our alarm clocks, since we get to choose the kind of ringtone to wake up to. However, there are others who would like a dedicated alarm clock to get the job done, as it has always been that way, so it is nice to have it continue. Well, since we have moved on to voice commands in our smartphone operating systems like Samsung's S Voice and Apple's Siri, how about introducing voice commands to the humble alarm clock?

No longer do you need to smash your alarm clock to send it to snooze every morning when it rings, and you can always get out of bed on the right side by yelling directly at it. Unlike your pooch, this is one alarm clock that is obedient and actually listens to what you say! The Ivee Voice Activated Alarm Clock will also come equipped with a built-in FM radio and a timer, and it sports a rather generous 5" LED display, where it will be accompanied by  half a dozen natural, soothing sleep sounds, not to mention being able to respond to over 30 voice commands. Each snooze moment lasts for up to 9 minutes.
